Novatel's SPAN is a highly accurate commercial GPS technology, precisely positioning objects to within the equivalent dimensions of one sugar-cube or smaller anywhere on the globe. When satellites are hidden – as when traveling through a long mountain tunnel - adding an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) to the SPAN system continues to provide highly accurate positioning data. The IMU is very high-end technology in a small package. Novatel asked Advanta to provide an industrial design solution that would communicate the product's sophistication and robustness – while being cost-effective to boot.
