Bill Stanton served as partner and VP of Tetrad Design Group Inc., functioning as design and contract liaison for GSM Design. He was responsible for the cab and control designs of Versatile’s trend-setting 1150, which challenged John Deere’s dominance in the heavy-tractor market segment.

Versatile pioneered the development of the heavy-duty, articulated steering farm tractor in North America. The Model 1150 was the flag-ship of the Designation Six family of articulated farm tractors.
Innovations included new windshield treatments that are still unique to the brand some 24 years later, advanced manufacturing technologiessuch as low-pressure injection molding, thermoforming, and composites and ergonomics. Combined with a distinctive aesthetic that maintained product identity in uncontrolled channels of distribution, it easily won over customers while increasing profit margins.
