    CHARGING
    REINVENTED

GPHY has developed the functional electronic infrastructure of a wireless charging station for portable devices, based on AirFuel technology, initially created by MIT. This station allows the battery of a device equipped with a compatible receiver to recharge when placed on a specific surface above the transmitter, which uses radio frequencies to transmit energy.

    EACH PRODUCT,
    ITS OWN IDENTITY

Each client has their own requirements in terms of design and product style. The GPHY team aimed to develop a desktop product with a technological aesthetic while keeping it close to the consumer products we encounter in everyday life.

We particularly enjoyed this project because, unlike most of our assignments where clients seek robust, resistant, and performance-oriented products, this time, the goal was to create a sleek, simple, and timeless design.

    MATERIALS:
    BEYOND AESTHETICS

The product combines injected plastic, which enhances signal permeability, with aluminum, used to create a Faraday cage and regulate the temperature of critical circuit components. The choice of materials and the positioning of fastening elements were crucial to maintaining signal integrity and avoiding interference.

    INSTANT
    INSTALLATION!

The product was designed for easy installation, as multiple transmitters will be deployed simultaneously across numerous desks within the same building. Ensuring simple setup and optimal positioning under the workspace surface was essential. A pre-installed mounting system allows the transmitter to be securely fixed in place.

    ONE RECEIVER,
    TWO OPTIONS

Two types of USB-C receivers have been developed to capture the RF signal through the desk surface and charge the device. The first version, in white, connects directly, while the second version, in black, features a cable connection, offering greater positioning flexibility.
