G6

CONNECTED SINGLE-GAS DETECTOR
FOR BLACKLINE SAFETY

100,000 New Protected Lives Per Year

The G6 is a new product for Blackline Safety, targeting the mass market as an entry-level gas detector. It competes with low-cost, disposable sensors that are typically discarded after a year of use. The G6 sets itself apart by being repairable and rechargeable, making it a better product for long term use. With a target production volume of 100,000 units per year, the G6 is one of Advanta Design's most produced products. It is a proud winner of a Red Dot award, a testament to its optimized design workflow focused on ease of use and simplified manipulation.

The Willingness to Innovate

We are fortunate to have a client like Blackline. Their drive to push boundaries benefits not only our team but also all our other clients. Blackline's dedication to exploring bold design directions and managing associated risks fosters innovation. Their team boasts extensive knowledge in hardware, software, and electronics, with exceptional staff from diverse hardware backgrounds. We are grateful to be enriched by their expertise. While some unique elements remain proprietary, many general innovations, processes, and methods developed during our collaborations enhance our collective expertise, benefiting all our clients.

Embracing the Dirt
and Dust

The G6 is a compact IP67 rated device with essential features. Its replaceable filtering system ensures optimal performance in dusty and dirty environments, which is crucial for maintaining sensor accuracy and preventing malfunctions.

While it's sometimes disheartening to see the wear and tear on returned units, it is gratifying to know they remain functional and save lives in harsh conditions.

Designed to Perform Even When Misused

The G6 gas sensor requires efficient calibration for large fleets. Users can choose between a single gas connection or bump testers for calibration. Large companies opt for bump testers for rapid operation, while smaller fleets use single tube connectors. The bump tester is durable and user-friendly, accommodating various interactions without compromising functionality. By anticipating all possible ways an unfamiliar user might interact with the product, we ensure it performs reliably. Its UX design ensures flawless performance, even when misused, prioritizing user safety and protection.

Multicharger
Design

With fleets of G6 units requiring daily calibration and charging, a scalable charging solution is essential. The Advanta-designed multi-charger allows users to drop off units after work and pick them up fully charged the next morning.

This solution optimizes space by avoiding the clutter of multiple cables, and it can be configured to fit small to large fleets, ensuring efficient utility room organization.

A SEASONED TEAM TO DESIGN PARTS FOR PRODUCTION

Designing 100,000 units annually demands a robust design for manufacturing. Our team excels at reviewing and fine-tuning parts to ensure manufacturing consistently meets our design standards. We know our products inside and out, and we will support you until every detail is right and fine-tuned for high-volume production, ensuring you feel confident and ready to take charge. Even with a production-savvy client like Blackline Safety, we remain involved in the ongoing improvement of the G6 at their request, ensuring it meets high-quality expectations until it is eventually replaced by the next, better design.

Rotative Injection Moulding

The high production volume of the G6 allowed us to use advanced tooling methods such as rotative molding with dual injection. This process enables simultaneous molding and over-molding within the same cavity, reducing defects and improving dimensional stability. The automated molding sequence with robotic arms enhances efficiency and quality, adding valuable knowledge to our manufacturing expertise.

"Creating good mechanical designs that seal against water in harsh conditions is always a challenge. Advanta's experience of having developed many such designs makes a real difference for Blackline"
